On The Bit Meeting – January 2016
The January meeting was held at the Cav Steakhouse on January 5, 2016 at 7:00. In attendance were Jessica F., Tammy, Kelly, Tom, JJ, Connie, Rachel, Anna, Jennifer, and Stephanie. At 7:30 the meeting was called to order.
Jessica reminded everyone that a new year means it’s time to renew your RMDS and USEF memberships. We have 19 members so far for 2106 (which means about half of our members still need to renew).
Tammy provided the Treasurer’s report. We currently have a balance of $3656.51, $120 of which are donations intended to be used for the silent auction for the RMDS Banquet gift basket. No dues are included in that amount – we should get that money in mid-January.
Board of Governors Meeting
The Board of Governor’s meeting was Saturday, November 14th at the Denver Stock Show Complex. Stephanie, Anna, and Ginka attended. Everyone was very welcoming and was very glad we had attended. We provided an overview of the meeting. Minutes can be found on RMDS. If you have specific questions, please email us at email@example.com and we’ll do our best to answer your questions.
We discussed the need for a policy on mileage reimbursement, for club business where our members are asked to attend on the club’s behalf (like the Board of Governor’s meeting). Anna moved that we reimburse mileage and actual expenses for club sponsored events, with approval of the board. Tammy seconded the motion. Motion passed.
Reminder that the Banquet is January 16th and we still have a few members who haven’t donated to the basket fund. If you intend to contribute, get your donation to Tammy or drop it off at The Tack Room by January 9th so Kelly has time to put it together.
Upcoming Education Ideas
- Human nutrition/juicing class with Jennifer in January.
- We discussed dates and decided on January 19th
- We discussed cost and Jennifer originally thought $25, and after further discussion settled on $20 to cover the cost of supplies
- Kelly volunteered her house at 6:30
- RSVP by January 14th
- Biomechanics Seminar
- Tuesday February 9th at Premier Bone and Joint at 6:00
- Jennifer will determine the cost and let Stephanie know so she can advertise the opportunity to our members
We need to determine a date for our schooling show. If our hope is to transition into a recognized show, we need to choose a date that will work for that as well. The consensus was that July or August would be best. Windy Wyoming’s horse trials is August 6th. July 16-17 are another possibility. We decided to table the date discussion to find out more information on locations (whether Spur Ridge will be ready by then, other options, etc.) and to look at the RMDS schedule in February.
Our next meeting is February 2nd at Tom and Kelly Wolfe’s house. Please plan to attend and bring a side dish or beverage to share.
Stephanie moved to adjourn the meeting. Tammy seconded. Meeting adjourned at 9:00.
